Interestingly the Bible talks about tons of life not on earth! It speaks of extraterrestrial life appearing and speaking directly to humans. (Gen 3:9-10) It speaks of millions of angelic beings, who by definition are extraterrestrial beings. They are ministering spirits who fulfill God's purpose. (Heb 1:13-14)

If earth is the only place for "habitation", where do these extraterrestrial life forms inhabit?

God too is an extraterrestrial being who is responsible for all creation. (Gen 1:1) And those who worship science are unable to grasp the idea since it is outside the paramaters of scientific observation and experimentation. Science can only tell us a great deal about matter that already exists. It tells us that matter can change shapes and form. But science cannot account for the appearance of something that previously did not exist. It can only theorize about possible explanations for how everything we see around us came to exist from nothing.

for instance i would probably pay for a billboard for a week or 2 displaying jwfacts.com on the highway or a nearby road that witnesses travel on heavily.

Pterism and partaking....

i had a very nice conversation with a christian man the other day.

it was so nice to speak to someone without fear.

i really just started unloading my burdens upon this man, and he was just awesome.

I hover around partial preterism (definitely not full), and I see communion as an important and special part of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Matthew 26:28 says: "For this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's Kingdom."

It seems to me that Jesus showed that we would still be drinking of the cup after he came. Even if the futurist view is correct and Jesus is to literally come again in the future, we would still enjoy the communion cup AFTER He came.

It also seems to me that even 1Cor 11:26 is speaking of the proclamation of the Lord's death until He comes rather than us stopping communion when Jesus comes. In light of Matt 26:28, we will still celebrate communion with Jesus in the Kingdom, directly in His presence.

How exactly did Jesus fulfill the law NOT the prophecies.

theres a clear difference between prophecies (predictions of future events) and laws(stuff you should and shouldnt do).. now since xians always says jesus fullfilled the law, how does one fullfill a bunch of requirements like dont murder, dont worship idols, shave your beard like this etc.. there are 613 laws in the torah, jewish rabbis have done all the hard work and we have a nice list on wiki.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/613_mitzvot.

im confused which of those some how select a unique individual to be the unique messiah ?

then again there were many messiahs, every king and priest of israel and judea was a messiah.

MP doesn't believe in Judaism anyway, since he is an atheist. This is his angle to try and "prove" Christanity false. But I think it's been shown that he doesn't really understand Judaism either. To say, "Show me one law of Moses that I have violated" is sort of funny. If you've eated a lobster, you violated the law. MP says he has never lied or stolen (at least from a neighbor). That's fine. I don't know him. But I find it unlikely.

I do believe you missed my point, MP, about LAW. And to those of you who missed it too, I DO believe in original sin. I was trying to show how modern Jews are wrong to reject it. There has always been sin since there was a law that was broken. Without law, there is no sin. There was no sin before God gave Adam and Eve the Law of not eating from the tree. Once they disobeyed the law, there was now sin.

My comparisson to a countries law is just an illustration. If there is no speed limit, I can go 90 MPH and not be breaking the law. But once there is a posted 65MPH speed limit, I can then break the law. And Paul discussed that in detail. Without the law, he did not know that coveting was wrong. But once there was a law about it, it made him understand that it was a sin.

To argue that sin is not in the Bible is almost too ridiculous to argue. TO say that you have never broken a law of Moses, is doubly so.

I remember talking to someone about how JWs follow men (namely the GB). They told me, "No we dont. I don't even know the names of any of the GB."

Well, now they will. The GB have now made sure that every JW will see them and know who they are:

I haven't been to a convention in a while, but do JWs still clap BEFORE and after the GB talks? I remember that we did. We would clap as they took the stage, something not done to anyone else.

i just happened to wander past my stepdaughter as she was watching some jw videos this morning before school, and i noticed a 'lesson 4' video, about not stealing.

hopefully it's youtube'd already and someone will post a link, i can't do it at the moment.. the plot is simple.

caleb's in the grocery store, and his mom just tells him [off-camera] 'no candy today.

I don't see anything wrong about teaching kids not to steal, it's a pretty universal moral value, so I'm not feeling too critical of this one.

That's funny, because I was actually disgusted by it! When you understand the biblical concept of grace, this video flies in the face of it. When Caleb thinks of taking the lollypop, he thinks of his dad saying, "If you steal, will you be Jehovah's friend?" The implication is that God will not be your friend if you do something wrong.

This isn't new to the WT. I keep thinking of the "Keep yourselves in God's Love" book. The implication of this book is that if you don't follow all of what they say in it, God will not love you. The book talks about Masturbation. So if you masturbate, God will not love you?

The WT does not understand grace AT ALL. They only know works based salvation. They can't even bring themselves to use the word "Grace". They have to down play it with the term "Undeserved Kindness". The focus is that you are not good enough to be kind to. Or to love.

I think all should watch the video again, and see if they can see the sly way the WT shows salvation by works. And if you do something wrong, "Jehovah" will not be your friend.

However i do have issue that you claim because im not perfect i break the law. .

I wasn't necessarily saying anything about you, MP. I'm saying it about ME! I break the law. I will continue to even though I try not to. Have you never told a lie? Have you never stolen anything even something as small as a pen? Have you never turned your wheels the wrong way so they are not facing the curb on a hill (a law in many places)? Even breaking a small law is breaking the law. The Law exists (in this context my countries law) and I can never fulfill it perfectly. I try, but I fail. I have not broken a law like murdering. But big laws and small laws are still laws. And breaking one of God's laws is sin.

I did not mean to apply this only to you. Again, I did not have to learn bad behavior. I had to learn GOOD behavior. And I still do! As soon as I was old enough to talk I knew how to say things that were not always kind and good. I had to learn how to NOT be unkind. That was my point.

It's fine if the Jewish concept of sin makes more sense to you. I actually don't think it matters much. Especially since I remember you being an atheist and not believing in anything. So this isn't really a discussion about whether sin is real, since sin cannot be real if God is not real. But anyway, it's fine.

THe idea is dont break our countries law, not that we are all flawed and break them all the time which is more what xians sin and Jesus would have us believe.

No, I don't think you understand the idea of sin. We cannot sin without Law. Because we can never follow any Law perfectly, we are sinners because Law exists. I can never follow every law given by my country. I will inevitably break one, whether it be speeding, or something else. We are only born broken because we are born with an inability to perfectly follow Law.

Paul said that he did not understand sin until it was taught to him in the Law. He uses coveting as an example.

"What then shall we say? That the Law is sin? By no means! Yet, if it had not been for the Law, I should not have known sin. I should not have known what it is to covet if the Law had not said, "You shall not covet." But sin, finding opportunity in the commandment, wrought in me all kinds of covetousness. Apart from the Law, sin lies dead." (Romans 7:7,8)

Law taught what sin was. If there was no law, sin would not exist. And this is the reason why many Jews reject original sin. Their concept of sin (doing something that offends God) is the same. It is just the WHEN it came about that is the question.

God laid down a law for Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree. But they did. Without God's Law not to eat, there was no sin. But once God told them what was sinful behavior, and they did, then SIN occured. That is why Christians believe in original sin. Because the first Law was given and then broken.

We then have to get into grace (a concept JWs do not understand), and why we are accepted even though we cannot follow the Law. But I will let that go for now.

I never thought the modern Jewish concept of sin was the same as Christians (xians is extremely annoying to read, just like xing is annoying to read on road signs :-) )

But the Christian concept makes sense. The Jewish concept is the all are born good. They are not born to do things wrong. Doing something wrong is something that they believe is learned as one grows up. I find this to be laughable even outside the Bible. I never had to learn to be bad. I had to learn goodness. I hit, kicked, screamed, threw things, etc until my parents taught me that that behavior was wrong and that being good was something else. But I digress.
